Jacob Hoffman is a writer, actor, and director with a career spanning over 8 decades. Just kidding (but seriously, he’s been an artist for a while). His career began at age four, when he commissioned, wrote, produced, directed, and starred in his Kindergarten class's inaugural (and only)Thanksgiving Spectacular.
Jacob was raised in the Chicago theatre scene, where he found acclaim as an actor (Jeff Nomination, Best Supporting Actor in a Musical), writer, educator, and administrator; he founded and served as Artistic Director of Renegade Theatre Company, a non-profit organization committed to providing professional opportunities for driven young artists.
Jacob is a graduate of New York University, holding a BFA in Drama from the Tisch School of the Arts. He is a NFAA YoungArts Winner and a Presidential Scholar in the Arts nominee. For his star turn in the original musical I’ll Be Damned, Jacob was nominated for a TINA Award, honoring outstanding achievements in Off-Broadway theatre. His rendition of “Sorry/Grateful” can be heard on the Grammy nominated Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album Sondheim Unplugged: The NYC Sessions (Vol. III).
He made his NY solo debut in November 2019 and is a fixture at many of NYC’s premier nightlife venues, appearing regularly at Feinstein’s 54 Below’s Sondheim Unplugged and 54 Below Sings series.
As an educator, Jacob has partnered with Bridge Arts Ensemble, Young Artists of America, and New York City Center as a teaching artist, director, writer, and choreographer. Jacob is also a sought after special needs theatre and mindfulness instructor. Click here to book a private coaching session or group theatre class.
